And Those Type Of People, You Don't Help Out

She was mad at her husband after he’d unwittingly been an accomplice in a crime against her. She feels herself wronged. They live in a town by the sea together where the sky is brush stroke blue and there are ferries in the distance, always.

It’s a small port town and everyone knows her. She was robbed by a door to door drill salesman.

It happened yesterday while she was out in the garden. A young woman came by; she had a drill, wanted to sell it and was invited in by her husband, her prospective buyer, a man growing lonely in his old age. He looked at the drill deciding, “No. I don’t need a drill, today.” Then on the way out the young lady stole the wife’s purse, ran through the garden and down the street. They still haven't caught her.

“She was a drug addict,” the lady told me. “She is HIV positive,” she said, scared. “And those type of people,” she added, “you don’t help out.”
